Ames Iowa Local Option Sales Tax History
The 1986 referendom reads:
"A local sales and services tax shall be imposed in the of Ames of the county fo Story at the rate of one percent (1%) to be effective on January 1, 1986. Revenues from the sales and services tax are to be allocated in the city of Ames in the county of Story as follows: Sixty percent (60%) for property tax relief. The specified purpose for which the revenue shall otherwise be expended is human service agencies, the arts, and community betterment."
